Farol Santa Luzia
Santa Luzia Lighthouse
Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil
Today marked a special milestone for Maria Clara, a 16-year-old student invited by her teacher, Ceni, to her first Outdoor Conversation Training. Stepping outside the traditional classroom setting, the experience was filled with excitement and anticipation.
Upon arriving at the Santa Luzia Lighthouse, located in Praia da Costa, Vila Velha, we were surprised to find it closed—despite a sign indicating it would reopen on March 8th, 2024. Unexpectedly, a navy soldier approached us holding his phone with a message translated via Google Translate: although the lighthouse remained officially closed, he kindly offered us access for a brief visit.

That simple gesture made the moment truly unforgettable. Not only were we allowed inside, but we were also granted access to the lighthouse tower—an opportunity rarely given to the public. Maria Clara and Teacher Ceni were deeply grateful for his kindness and hospitality.

Throughout the experience, Maria Clara demonstrated intelligence, focus, and genuine dedication to learning. Her determination to become fluent in English is evident, and her willingness to embrace new challenges reflects a strong and promising mindset.

This day was more than just a training session—it was a reminder that learning often happens in unexpected ways, creating lasting memories and meaningful progress.
What a remarkable day.
